THE ORIGINS OF HOPE
Hello, I'm Hope Easterbrook, the creator of Dance4Hope.
D4H was born from my profound desire to inspire young souls through the transformative power of arts education. While making my Broadway debut in Hamilton was a cherished moment, it was through teaching that I discovered my true purpose. Teaching has become more than just a profession; it is my passion and calling, shaping my journey with purpose and fulfillment.
Dance4Hope was founded in 2019, driven by a vision to offer dance classes to the immigrant refugee population held in detention. Witnessing the constrained circumstances of these children and recognizing the therapeutic potential of dance amidst adversity, I was inspired to provide a sanctuary where they could experience the liberating power of movement amidst confinement. Drawing from my own experience of losing my mother to cancer during my teenage years, I found solace in music and dance, understanding firsthand the healing capacity of the arts during times of personal struggle. I identified a common thread between my journey of loss and grief, and that of the young refugees, who were grappling with the separation from their families and the weight of that loss. This empathy fueled my determination to establish Dance4Hope, recognizing the transformative impact that arts education can have on the lives of young individuals navigating profound challenges
I envisioned Dance4Hope allowing these children a safe space to express themselves through art while teaching them tools to help with their social and emotional challenges, preparing them for success in the future. In an instant I took the leap of faith and started developing a program along with filing for my 501c3 status as a non profit organization.
Art Transcends.
It is a universal language of healing, and I’m witnessing it firsthand by allowing others a safe space to heal through their creativity. Art has the ability to connect us all, regardless of background, race, life experience, age, gender, sexual orientation, and even language.
As my dreams continue to evolve, D4H serves as the canvas where I breathe life into them. Together, let's mold a world where each individual is empowered to flourish through their artistic expression.
With love,
Hope
